Description:

DCR-SX44

Sony DCR-SX44 Handycam

The ultra-compact DCR-SX44 features:

4GB of embedded flash memory, which can record up to 3 hours of video, a built-in LED video light, as well as a professional-quality Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens, delivering a sharp, high-resolution image and powerful 60x optical zoom that lets you capture extremely tight shots, even from far away.

With this Carl Zeiss lens and powerful optical zoom, the  DCR-SX44 Handycam camcorder does indeed capture extremely tight shots. Boasting a 2.7″ touch panel display with excellent viewing clarity and improved resolution (230K pixels), it is a breeze to frame your shots. The display rotates up to 270 degrees for multiple viewing angles, as well as provides sharp, detailed images for monitoring or playback. The convenient touch panel also allows easy access to menus.

The DCR-SX44 model:

has a ‘brother’ in the form of the SR68. The main differences between the SX44 and SR68 are storage capacity and type. The DCR-SX44 stores video to 4GB of internal flash memory as well as Memory Stick Pro Duo and SD/SDHC/SDXC cards. The SR68 records to an 80GB hard drive, but can store to Memory Stick Pro Duo and SD/SDHC/SDXC cards, too.

The SR68 is slightly bigger and heavier than the Sony  SX44, but there is otherwise little difference between the two models. They have the same lens, processor, and image sensor, and as such they should have the same video quality and filming performance.

While it is true that the DCR-SX44  is a mid-range Camcorder it must be said that it has many of the features and specifications that you would expect on a much more expensive model.
